You need to be fit, healthy and happy to do the important job of helping former refugees and migrants learn the English they need for life in New Zealand!
At English Language Partners, we think looking after ourselves is essential. So volunteer ESOL home tutors and teachers at English Language Partners in Palmerston North joined a recent workshop focussed on ‘looking after ourselves.’ The workshop was given by Dr Vivien Rodgers from Vitae who shared some simple strategies to keep us healthy and happy.
Here’s a self-reflection that may help you in the lead up to the ‘Silly Season’.
When was the last time you …?
This question makes us think about our own wellbeing – something we are often too busy to consider.
So, consider … When was the last time you:
- Read a book?
- Rode a bike?
- Strolled through a park?
- Had a picnic?
- Laughed out loud?
- Stayed in bed all morning?
- Watched a movie?
- “It was great to have a workshop focussed on us, it made me feel valued”
- “I have shared the wellbeing ideas with many of my friends”
- “This was a good reminder to do something for myself without guilt”
