Ngā mihi o te wā – season’s greetings

Former refugees and migrants are typically hard-working and highly-motivated employees, keen to build new lives and contribute.

This year, we’ve worked with businesses around the country to ensure staff have the right English to communicate well and work safely in Aotearoa. One company is Nelson-based XLam: with 30 per cent of their workforce former refugees, XLam’s chief carpenter Dan McKean says the company wouldn’t be efficient without them. We’ve also partnered with other local tertiary providers and organisations such as Red Cross to help former refugees and migrants learn more effectively and settle more easily into their communities – a priority for ELPNZ.
