Pathways to Employment Service

We help eligible job seekers from a refugee background find work.

About the Pathways to Employment Service

The Pathways to Employment service helps eligible job seekers from a refugee background find work.

We can support eligible job seekers to:

  • Understand the New Zealand job market.
  • Find and apply for full-time jobs.
  • Plan a career and goals.
  • Get support for work readiness training.
  • Write CVs and cover letters.
  • Prepare for job interviews.
  • Talk to employers.
  • Settle into a new job.
  • Enrol in our English language classes.
  • Enrol in full-time study with tertiary education providers.

New Zealand Red Cross (NZRC) delivered this service until 30 June 2026. It is now delivered by English Language Partners.

We deliver this service under contract to the Ministry of Social Development (MSD). This means there are some differences between the current service and the NZRC service. The main differences are:

  • We do not have work brokers available in all settlement locations in New Zealand. We will monitor demand and engage with local communities, and we may be able to offer support in additional locations in the future.
  • We prioritise supporting eligible job seekers into full-time work or study. This means that there will be less support available to help people find part-time work. Unfortunately, we cannot support people to find voluntary roles.

Find out if you are eligible for support

It does not matter how long you have been living in New Zealand.

We can help people to find work who have just arrived. We can also help people who have been in New Zealand for many years.

The definition of full-time tertiary study is on the Study Link website. Full-time definition - StudyLink   When you meet a work broker, they will help you understand how this applies to your situation.
