Our volunteers  

English Language Partners Waikato has trained volunteers who offer English language support to refugees and migrants for whom English classes are difficult to access or afford.

 


  

Certificate in ESOL Home Tutoring
2011 training dates  

Train as a volunteer Home Tutor!
Registrations for the upcoming course are being taken now. Please contact the office to make an appointment for enrolment.

Term 3
Day class:  Tuesdays 2 August - 4 October: 10am-12noon  

Term 4
Weekend training: Friday night and all day Saturday for 2 weekends
Fri 4 and Sat 5 November and Fri 11 and Sat 12 November
to be confirmed.                                                                           

 There is a $25 course fee to cover the cost of training material.

 


  

ESOL Literacy Classes

These classes are for adult learners who have Permanent Residence and only 0-6 years of schooling in their own country. There are 2 classes running in 2011, starting on 14 February.

Class 1. Migrant Resource Centre, Boundary Rd, Claudelands
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 4.30-6.30pm

Class 2. Western Community Centre, Hyde St, Nawton
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 12.15-2.45pm

Term 1: 14 Feb - 10 April
Term 2: 2 May - 11 July
Term 3: 1 August - 8 October
Term 4: 25 October - 1 December

You must come to our office to enrol. Please bring your passport. 
You can also bring a support person to help you.

 


  

Work Talk

Work Talk is a course for people from language backgrounds other than English who want to learn job search and workplace communication skills.

Come to practise your English conversation, find out more about Kiwi culture and make new friends.

There are a number of groups for learners in Hamilton, Cambridge and Morrinsville.  These meet for 2 hours once a week during the school term. Please contact the office to find out if you are eligible to attend the group.
