Aim To train community volunteers as ESOL home tutors who will provide one-to-one English language and resettlement support to adults. This is not a training course for teaching English overseas. This course carries with it an expectation that you will tutor a learner once a week for a period of at least six months, preferably a year.

All applicants are interviewed before acceptance on to the course. Course cost: $25
The names and contact numbers of two referees will be required on application.
Consent for a police check will be requested.

Classes cost $32 or $36 for Term 1, depending on the class day ($48 or $54 for non permanent residents)

E100 classes are free intensive numeracy and literacy classes. Priority is given for learners who are pre-employed, employed or who have been recently been made unemployed. Tuition of 100 hours is spread over 20 weeks. Learners must have permanent residency.
NEW: E100 classes starting in February! Classes will be 6 hours per week over two mornings

E4E classes are free classes for people who are employed and need help with English in their workplace.
Levels are from beginner to Upper Intermediate. Classes are during weekdays, weekends and evenings.
Classes can be tailored (topics, target language, location, time) to suit 3 or more learners from the same organisation if they are of a similar level.

We run four Literacy classes in partnership with Christchurch Resettlement Services. These classes are for learners who are preliterate in their first language and are taught in Colombo Street, near the bus exchange.
All learners must be registered with the centre to have their names on the waiting list. Learners need to visit our centre to register.
