- English is not your first language; and

- you are 16 or older.

Our courses provide the language skills you need to live and work in New Zealand. You will learn useful kiwi expressions and how to communicate using appropriate grammar.

Want to use English more confidently in your daily life? Our online courses will improve your listening and speaking skills.
We will help you to:

  • listen for the most important information so you can understand conversations better
  • build your confidence and skills so you can speak up in different situations
  • improve your pronunciation so others can understand you
  • notice the areas of pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary you need to develop
  • understand Kiwis and use a range of vocabulary and everyday expressions

Professional Speaking course

Do you want to speak up more at work? This online course gives you both the confidence and skills to communicate more effectively in the workplace. You’ll practise a range of informal and formal situations and learn some kiwi slang and idioms. You’ll learn how to prepare and give a professional presentation and also how to use power point effectively to give a presentation to an audience. 

The course will also cover using business English on the phone and how to deal with complaints verbally as well as talking to colleagues and clients. You will learn some grammar skills to help improve your spoken and written English. There will be a focus on improving pronunciation skills. The content is flexible to meet individual needs and learning goals. The course will focus on both NZ and workplace culture.

Real Life English course

An online course to help you live and work more comfortably in New Zealand. We will practice speaking, listening and writing in real life contexts. You will learn some useful expressions, increase your ability to express yourself using appropriate grammar, work on your pronunciation, and become more aware of the way Kiwis speak.

Kiwi Speak course

‘Yeah nah’, ‘sweet as’. Is it difficult to understand Kiwis? Do you want to 'have a yarn' with someone, but not sure what that means? In this online course, you can learn how to communicate the Kiwi way. Improve your listening and speaking skills, become more confident and learn new words and phrases. We will practice listening to Kiwi accents and have conversations about topical issues. This course will use a range of authentic listening materials; e.g., YouTube videos, clips from NZ TV shows and news clips.

Emails and Telephoning for Home and Work

Emails and Telephoning for Home and Work is a course to help you feel more confident about making phone calls and writing emails in your daily life, for whatever purpose. We will look at starting and ending emails and calls, asking for information, making complaints and apologies, being polite and appropriate, clarifying when you don't understand, leaving and taking messages, and other useful everyday tasks to help you manage your life in New Zealand.

Do you want to use English more confidently in your daily life here in NZ? Our online courses will improve your reading and writing skills by giving you lots of practice and feedback on your work.
We will help you to:

  • read and understand a range of everyday texts
  • find the most important information in the text quickly
  • write more by practising writing emails, texts, online posts and letters
  • understand when to use formal and informal language
  • notice the areas of grammar, punctuation and vocabulary you need to improve

FAQs

Can I learn English online with English Language Partners?

You can learn online if:

  • you live in New Zealand
  • are a resident or citizen of New Zealand
  • speak English as a second language
  • are 16 years or older and not attending school
  • we have a course that meets your needs

We will talk to you about the courses available.

You cannot learn online if you are on a temporary visa such as a:

  • Working holiday visa
  • Visitor/tourist visa
  • Student visa

How long are courses?

Our courses vary in length. It depends on the course. Many are 8 weeks, others can vary between 2 and 18 weeks long.

How much does it cost?

Our online courses are free to residents and citizens.

Can I study after work?

Yes. We have courses for people who work during the day and want to study in the evening.

What will I learn?

You will learn the English you need to live independently in New Zealand. Our courses help people with daily life, finding work, and future study. We will help you communicate in Kiwi English. You can also learn about Kiwi culture.

Can I study for the IELTS test?

Yes. In some centres. We sometimes offer online IELTS classes too.

What level are classes?

All levels. Courses are from beginner to advanced levels. We assess your level before placing you in a course. If a course at your level is not immediately available, we will place you on a class waitlist.

Can I study grammar?

Yes. Some courses have a specific grammar focus. Other courses include grammar as part of the course content.

How many hours each week are courses?

Most of our courses are part-time. Some are two hours each week, other courses are longer – up to 10 hours. You can join more than one class.

My computer system isn’t very good – can I join?

You need a reliable internet connection, a camera and a microphone.
