Courses are subject to availability, and may not be offered by all centres.

In class

English Language Groups

ESOL Literacy

ESOL Intensive

New Zealand Certificate in English Language

  • 34 hours per week (20 classroom hours, 14 hours of homework and self-study)
  • Study for an NZQA certificate and achieve NZQA Unit Standards in English Language
  • Qualified teachers
  • For New Zealand citizens and residents
  • Free programme
  • In Bay of Plenty, Porirua and Hutt centres

Police Recruit Literacy

  • 45-hour course (18-week course)
  • For people who want to study for a career with the NZ Police (preferably, people who have started the application process)
  • Bring your English reading and writing to the level required to join the NZ Police.
  • English level – confident speakers of English
  • Qualified teachers
  • For New Zealand citizens and residents
  • Free programme
  • In Waikato and Wellington centres

ESOL Road Code

  • 30-hour course (flexible hours)
  • Study for the Learner Driver Theory Test
  • English level – high elementary/pre-intermediate
  • Qualified teachers
  • Small classes
  • For people who arrived under the Refugee Quota category and asylum seekers
  • Free programme
  • In Auckland South, Waikato, Palmerston NorthNelson and Dunedin

For work

English for Employees

  • 2-4 hours per week (45-hour course, flexible hours)
  • For people with a job (full-time, part-time, casually/seasonally or self-employed)
  • Improve your workplace English

Work Talk

  • 48-hour intensive course (flexible hours)
  • Learn how to approach employers
  • Learn to tailor your CV for specific job applications
  • Prepare and practise for job interviews
  • Develop your professional networking skills
  • English level – Intermediate and above (confident users of English)
