Manager, Hawkes Bay

The following permanent part-time position (20 hours/week) is for the Hawkes Bay centre.

You will provide organisational leadership for the centre’s community-based English language programmes and work with adult refugees and migrants. This exciting position includes managing the delivery of English language programmes as well as managing the organisation’s operations such as finance, administration, fundraising, community liaison, staff and volunteer training and management.

The position requires excellent management, communication and interpersonal skills, along with highly competent computer literacy. Excellent organisational ability is essential. A qualification in management, education or TESOL, preferably with adults, is essential.

The job will suit a person who is self-motivated and can work to deadlines within flexible working hours. You will enjoy the challenge of working with a diverse team committed to making a difference for new New Zealanders.

Part time Operations Support, New Plymouth

Our New Plymouth Centre is looking for an operations support person. This is a part-time position (fixed term for one year) for 10 hours a week.

English Language Partners New Zealand teaches English to adult refugees and migrants. Our community based programmes involve both paid staff and volunteers. The operations support role will support the centre manager in the day-to-day administrative and operational duties of the centre.

This role includes a balance of coordination and administration tasks, which involves interaction with learners and volunteers to ensure the efficient running of the local service. Administrative tasks associated with running the centre, supporting learner programmes, supporting volunteer tutors and centre staff, maintaining an up-to-date resource library, maintaining the ELP database and reception duties will be key components of this role.

The position requires excellent communication, interpersonal and intercultural awareness skills, along with highly competent computer literacy. Excellent organisational ability and previous administrative experience are essential for this role. The job will suit a person who is self-motivated, can work to deadlines and is able to work flexible hours that will fit with the Manager and Centre’s hours of operations.

English Language Partners Northland is looking for registrations of interest from ESOL teachers who are looking for part-time and casual relieving work.

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • A tertiary qualification in TESOL at level 5 or above (e.g. graduate certificate, Bachelor's degree, post-grad diploma or degree such as CELTA, Cert TESOL, Cert TEAL, Dip SLT)

AND one of the following:

  • A literacy educator qualification (e.g.NCALNE)
  • A New Zealand teaching qualification (preferably primary teaching as this includes literacy and numeracy)
  • Sound experience in IELTS examination preparation

Preferred:

  • Experience in teaching ESOL to preliterate and/or beginner learners
  • Can be guided by a curriculum and be creative to teach without a course book

The English Language Group(ELG) programme

We are seeking 2 teachers to teach our ELG classes in 2018, on a fixed term, part-time basis. The ELG Programme provides ESOL tuition to groups of adult learners from a non-English speaking background in order to improve their ability to function in everyday life and improve their confidence

Qualifications required to teach the ELG programme

Teachers need a tertiary qualification in TESOL (minimum level 5) such as CELTA, Cert TESOL, Cert TEAL, Dip SLT – preferably one which contains a practicum.

Experience in teaching ESOL and/or adult literacy is essential.

The job will suit a person who is self-motivated and who would enjoy the challenge of helping new New Zealanders to reach their full potential at work.
